Paradigm Shift

In another week or so, I'll be facing my trials, and yet I can be coolly sitting in front of the computer screen and be busy working on my blogs. Friends have been advising me from the beginning to get a change in my life, be more serious in my school work. Dinisha, Darshanna and Michelle have been telling me to get my ass away from the computer screen and try to get some studies done before my SPM examinations. But why can't I do it? Why do I think that is very much unimportant? Is this really going to affect my life, my future career? I need a paradigm shift in my life right now, or I think I'm never going to be able to get through this. I need to look at my exams in a different way and start doing something about it so that I can achieve my goals. Is that all I need? A paradigm shift? I know I lack determination and will power, but can you blame me when there are such interesting things to do outside school? Well, I've got to get myself some of that will power and determination if I want to succeed. The question is, can I?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -SPOILERS - Be Warned

Finally! Two long years of waiting, two long years full of questions, the answers came hurtling in my face. The final chapter of Harry Potter was on bookstore shelves around the world. At 7.01PM local time, the books started selling in Malaysia and at midnight in the United Kingdom. Fans waited in lines for hours even days to lay their hands of Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows, awaiting the fates of their favourite heroes or to some, villains. Being a Harry Potter fanatic, I just couldn't wait to get to the nearest bookstore to purchase the book. But things went horribly wrong the day before the books started sales. Two hypermarket branches in Malaysia decided to sell the books and a much cheaper price compared to other major bookstore chains in Malaysia. Due to their indiscriminate pricing, four other major bookstores decided not to sell the Harry Potter books but will only provide the books to those have pre-ordered it. And all Harry Potter events related to the bookstores were to be cancelled. I was furious and at the same time overjoyed. Many people could not get the books from the bookstores and there were only limited copies and the hypermarkets. So on the 21st of July, I rushed over the nearest Carrefour Hypermarket and purchased the book for only RM69.90 compared to RM109.90 at other bookstores. I was happy because I got the book for a cheaper price on the first day. The joy in my face could not be hidden, holding the final volume of the series, caressing the hardcover of the book, I just couldn't wait to get home and finish reading it.
I just finished reading the book mere hours ago and I have to tell you, the book was an awesome read. Never read anything as good as the Harry Potter series. As I was reading the final few pages of the book, tears were streaming down my eyes, knowing that this would be the end of a long journey. Harry Potter has been with me since I was eleven years old, and has become a part of me since. I never get bored of reading Harry Potter and will never stop eventhough the may be some pompous fools who thinks that the series is "gay" or childish or whatever, I don't really care. Explain to me then how are there so many Harry Potter fans around the globe? If you can't give it a chance, how will you ever know?
As Harry Potter fans know, the last book ended with Dumbledore giving Harry, Ron and Hermione a mission before he died, a mission to gather and destroy the remaining Horcruxes of Voldermort. And a question about Snape's loyalties, whether with the good side or the evil side. The end was near they knew, that Harry would finally face Voldermort in a battle. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, we learn that the Dursleys were transported somewhere safe and Dudley actually thanked Harry for saving his lives from the Dementors before he left. And we learn that the Order had come to Harry's aid to transport him safely away from his home before his 17th birthday for the spell that protects him would break once he comes of age. And when the Order comes and tries to take him away, the Death Eaters already knew of course, there was a great battle in the sky, good against evil, causing Mad-Eye Moody and Hedwing to their deaths. Hedwig will be remembered forever. Hoot, Hedwig. Rest in peace. And to you Mad-Eye as well. George Weasley was injured badly and had lost a ear, and he made "holey" jokes about it.
After the wedding between Bill and Fleur, Rufus Srimgeour dies in the hands of Death Eaters and the Ministry of Magic is then taken over. The Death Eaters crash the wedding and Harry, Ron and Hermione disapparate to safety and thus starts their journey for the Horcruxes. They go to Godric Hollow to look for Horcruxes but meet the fake Bathilda Bagshot who turned out to be Voldermort's snake, Nagini. They escaped in time before Voldermort could get to them. After getting the Slytherin Locket from Umbridge, they found the sword of Godric Gryffindor and Ron destroyed the locket with it. During their hideout, they were captured by Snatchers and brought to Malfoy's house where they Hermione was torchered and Ron and Hermione were locked up where they found Luna, Dean Griphook and Ollivander the wandmaker. Crying for help, Dobby suddenly appears and apparates Luna, Dean and Ollivander to safety. Then Wormtail appears and tries to kill Harry but remembers that he owes his life to Harry and takes his own instead. Before Bellatrix can torcher Hermione more, Harry and Ron burst in with Griphook the goblin and tries to rescue her. Dobby returns and apparates them to Bill and Fleur's home, Shell Cottage. But before they could reaching safety, Bellatrix throws a dagger at Harry and misses, hitting Dobby instead. Upon reaching their destination, he dies. They then bury him.
Harry questions Ollivander about the Elder Wand, but chooses not to try and prevent Voldemort from acquiring it from the tomb of its last owner, Dumbledore. Instead, he questions Griphook about how to break into Gringotts, and in exchange offers him the goblin-made sword of Godric Gryffindor. After extensive planning, the group goes to Gringotts to try and find one of the Horcruxes in the Lestrange vault; Hermione poses as Bellatrix Lestrange, Ron is disguised, and Griphook and Harry go in under the Invisibility Cloak. They manage to penetrate the vault's defences (including a captive dragon) and find the Horcrux, Hufflepuff's cup, but are detected while doing so. Griphook seizes this opportunity to flee with the sword. Harry, Ron, and Hermione narrowly escape on the back of the dragon, but Voldemort discovers at last that they are seeking out his Horcruxes. Harry has a vision shortly after the escape: Voldemort is listing the locations of his Horcruxes, realising that they may have been discovered. Voldemort inadvertently reveals that the final Horcrux, which Harry suspects to be a relic of the founder of Ravenclaw, is safe within Hogwarts. Harry realizes that if they wish to acquire the final Horcrux, they must do so immediately, before Voldemort finds his other Horcruxes missing and puts more even more protection on Hogwarts.
At Hogsmeade, Harry, Hermione, and Ron are cornered by Death Eaters in the street, but they are saved by the quick thinking of Aberforth Dumbledore. Aberforth opens a secret passageway to Hogwarts through a portrait of his sister Ariana, where Neville Longbottom greets them. Harry then alerts the Heads of Houses at Hogwarts to Voldemort's imminent arrival, and the younger students are evacuated for safety and the older students encouraged to stay and fight. Dumbledore's Army and subsequently members of the Order of the Phoenix are called to help. Last to arrive is the estranged Weasley brother, Percy Weasley, who reunites with his family after apologizing to them. Harry momentarily loses track of Ron and Hermione but later encounters them returning from the Chamber of Secrets, having retrieved Basilisk fangs in order to be able to destroy the remaining Horcruxes. Hermione has already stabbed Hufflepuff's Cup. Ron informs Harry and Hermione that they should save the house elfs, causing Hermione to kiss Ron. The trio go into the Room of Requirement to look for Ravenclaw's lost diadem. Draco Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle, however, confront them, having stayed behind to capture Harry. Crabbe mishandles a powerful spell and sets on fire the centuries' accumulation of junk and items hidden there by students. Trapped by the fire, Harry and his friends escape on two broomsticks Harry finds in the clutter, managing to rescue Draco and Goyle. Crabbe does not escape and is presumed dead. Having retrieved the diadem right before escaping the fire, Harry holds it up only to see it fall to pieces; the spell Crabbe used had destroyed it.
Fred Weasley is killed following the explosion of a wall, crushed beneath the rubble. Shortly therefafter, Hagrid is captured by Acromantulas. After Harry has another vision of Voldemort, the trio travel to the Shrieking Shack, where they see Voldemort order Nagini to kill Snape. Voldemort believes that Snape, having killed Dumbledore, is the master of the wand and that the wand's power will now transfer to him. As he dies from the snake bite, Snape gives up his memories to Harry, who uses the Pensieve to find out that Snape was on Dumbledore's side all along, motivated by his lifelong love for Lily Evans (Harry's mother). A curse on the Gaunt's Ring having already limited Dumbledore's lifespan, Snape had been asked to kill him to prevent Draco from doing it himself. Harry also discovers that he himself is a Horcrux, and that Voldemort cannot be killed while Harry remains alive. Meanwhile, Voldemort announces one hour of cease-fire during which time both sides will be allowed to collect their casualties, with the battle recommencing after the deadline unless Harry delivers himself onto him. Resigned to his fate, Harry tells Neville to join in the quest to kill Nagini the snake (the final Horcrux) in case Ron and Hermione fail. Harry, while making his way towards the Forbidden Forest under the Invisibility Cloak, where Voldemort is waiting, spots the bodies of Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks along with the body of Colin Creevey, a sixth year who had stayed behind to fight. Harry realizes that this is "the close" referred to in the riddle on the Snitch, and puts it to his mouth saying "I'm about to die." It is revealed that the Snitch contains the Gaunt's Ring, not only a former Horcurx but also the Resurrection Stone (one of the three Deathly Hallows). Harry uses the Stone to summon the ghosts of his parents, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, who glide along by his side, giving him support and protecting him from the army of Dementors roaming the forest.
Once he reaches Voldemort, it transpires that Hagrid is being held as their prisoner. Harry drops the ring and reveals himself. Prepared for death, he allows Voldemort to hit him with an Avada Kedavra curse. However, Harry awakens in what appears to be King's Cross railway station. A wounded and dying creature lies on the floor, representing the part of Voldemort's soul which resided within Harry but has now been removed. He meets the deceased Albus Dumbledore, who explains that Harry cannot die while Voldemort lives, since he used Harry's blood to recreate his body, and Lily's protection binds the two. He discovers that Dumbledore sought the Hallows, with Grindelwald, for less than noble reasons, resulting in the death of his sister Ariana during a duel between Albus Dumbledore, Aberforth Dumbledore and Grindelwald. Only Harry is worthy of possessing the Hallows. It is also revealed that Harry's wand reacted against Voldemort's borrowed wand because Voldemort's wand had once been defeated by Harry's wand during Priori Incantatem; it would have a similar reaction against Voldemort next time, even if the wand he was using was not his. Harry is given the choice of "going on", or continuing with life and stopping Voldemort; he chooses the latter.
Back in the forest, on Voldemort's orders,
Hagrid carries Harry (seemingly dead) back to Hogwarts to much dismay and shock to those there. Voldemort is bravely faced down by Neville, who rejects his offer to join him and become a Death Eater. As punishment, Voldemort puts the Sorting Hat upon his head and then sets it ablaze. At that very moment, the friends and families of those who had stayed behind to fight, the shopkeepers and homeowners of Hogsmeade, Grawp and the centaurs, Thestrals and Hippogriffs of Hogwarts all charged in, joining the battle to fight alongside Hogwarts' last defenders. In the confusion, Harry covers himself with the Invisibility Cloak. Neville, in one swift motion, breaks free of the Body-Binding curse, pulls the Sword of Gryffindor from the Sorting Hat, and beheading Nagini, destroying the final Horcrux. At that moment, the door to the kitchen blasts off its hinges and the house-elves of Hogwarts, lead by Kreacher, join the fight. In the ensuing battle Antonin Dolohov is killed by Filius Flitwick and Bellatrix Lestrange by Molly Weasley. Harry reveals himself to prevent Voldemort from killing Molly in retaliation.
Coming face to face with Voldemort in the Great Hall, Harry is seemingly faced with impossible odds, as Voldemort possesses the Elder Wand. However, Harry gambles correctly that Draco Malfoy was the true master of the Elder Wand, not Snape. It was Draco who disarmed Dumbledore and thus had beaten him in a duel, while Snape was acting according to Dumbledore's wishes in killing him. Because Harry himself disarmed Malfoy, the mastery of the wand has passed unto Harry. Harry also taunts Voldemort by using his real name, Tom Riddle, and telling him he has never learnt from his own mistakes. Harry's willingness to die to protect everyone else, just as his mother died to protect him, has given everyone a protection he cannot break, as shown when Neville was not harmed by Voldemort's torture. When Voldemort strikes Harry with the killing curse from the Elder Wand, Harry responds by casting his "trademark" Expelliarmus spell. The Elder Wand refuses to kill its master, and the curse to rebounds to kill Voldemort.
Harry seeks solitude with Ron and Hermione in Dumbledore's office, where he receives a standing ovation from the portraits of the old Headmasters. Harry uses the immense power of the Elder Wand to repair his own, choosing to return the former to Dumbledore's grave instead of keeping it for himself. He also confirms to the Dumbledore protrait that, despite proving himself the only worthy possessor of all the Deathly Hallows, he will not seek out the ring in the forest. He decides though to keep the Invisibility cloak; in the children's story the cloak was the wisest choice.
In the story's epilogue, taking place 19 years after the Second Battle of Hogwarts, Harry and Ginny Weasley are married and have three children named James, Albus Severus, and Lily. Ron and Hermione are also married and have two children named Rose and Hugo. The two families meet up at King's Cross Station when taking their children to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters for their departure to Hogwarts. Lily is too young to attend Hogwarts just yet, Albus is entering his first year at the school, and James is already an experienced Gryffindor. At the station, Harry, Ginny, Ron, and Hermione spot Draco Malfoy across the platform with his wife (unnamed) and his son Scorpius. It is implied that Harry and Draco, although not cordial, have at least reconciled. The mischievous James catches Teddy Lupin, the son of the late Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks and Harry's godson, kissing Victoire, Bill and Fleur's daughter. It is revealed that Neville Longbottom has become the Herbology Professor at Hogwarts. Harry's scar has not hurt since the Dark Lord's defeat.
This story and the stories before it will always stay with me till the day I grow old, maybe I would like to be burned/burried with it, so that I can always remember the stories, even in my after life. I may have left out certain parts in the book, so I apologise. I do hope J.K Rowling continues writing, eventhough it isn't about Harry Potter, I will always buy her books. Thanks J.K Rowling, for making my life a magical one by giving Harry Potter to live in my heart. Thanks a lot.

Entry Demand and Harry Potter

Well, since there's "A" demand that I should update my blog, then I shall. The people that have read my blogs have personally commented on some of them, like the best friend part and also the part where "some of my friends have gotten distant" and etc. Well, honestly, the best friend part is kind of true, kinda. And the part about the distant friends, well, I really don't know. Sometimes okay, sometimes weird. It's just a bit confusing sometimes la. Dinisha, if you're reading this, I'm not going to say who those people are and will only tell when all is confirmed.
Well anyways, getting back to my life. Watched Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix last week on the 12th of July, the second day of its release. Just because I'm a real big fan of the Harry Potter books, I had to check out the movie, and I wasn't really pleased with how it was done. Lots of things they changed entirely from the book, and some of the scenes I've never read in the book. And the ending, when Sirius died? What's witht that? Bellatrix didn't use the Killing Curse on him in the book, but just a normal jynx and he fell through the veil. My reaction while watching that scene as usual was, "What the fuck?". The movie overall was lacking a lot of the elements found in the book and made me feel a bit bored at most times. But no matter, nothing can make me happier but getting the final installment of the Harry Potter series this Saturday. 21st July! I really can't wait to get my hands on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I really want to know how it's all going to end. It's going to be a real good read, I can feel it. Why can't I get my hands on the book now? Well, I just to have to wait.
And yeah, I was given the duty of getting the class profile done for my class as it's our final year in school, same as Harry actually, what a coincidence. Will update the pictures in the next blog entry. Friends, introduce my blogs to your friends and their friends, and help make me one of the best bloggers in Malaysia. Haha, I highly doubt that anyways, but there's no harm in trying. Well, will try to update as soon as I can, and maybe I'll even blog about the Harry Potter book in the next entry, so if you see the headlines of the new entry that has anything to do with Harry Potter and you haven't completed reading the book, be advised, SPOILERS will be in there. Fans have been warned. Till the next entry then

Sayonara!
